Long-crested EagleBird-in-tuition East Africa offers bird training in Tanzania. It opens opportunities for tourist guides and birdwatchers to become local bird guides, bird tour leaders and birding teachers.
 
Birding tourism through the World is increasing every year. This business should produce money and skills useful to support local development in the visited countries as well as nature conservation and including education. The training is based on the Bird-in-tuition methodology that has already proved very successful in Belgium, France, Zambia and Brazil.
 
The first training will take place in November 2010 at Mkumbara, Mombo, Tanga District, Tanzania. It includes 10 theoretical lessons of 2-3 hours and daily field walks with Valéry Schollaert, who has 20 years of experience as bird tour leader, 8 as bird teacher and is author of several bird books and creator of the Bird-in-tuition method. All students will receive a bird-in-tuition certificate. This particular training at West Usambara foothills will allow trainees to work on savanna, forest, garden, agricultural field, swamp and cliff birds.
 
Training is limited to 12 students to ensure proper field work and personalized support for each tutee. It is recommended to subscribe as soon as possible.
 
Courses fees are $390,00 per person, included full board accommodation.

For the training, you need an exercise book, a pair of binoculars and Stevenson and Fanshaw’s “Birds of Eastern Africa” (Helm Editions) or another Tanzanian/East Africa bird field guide.
